The premise for this year’s event, A Night at the Asylum, is that the Southern Museum was built atop a plot of land once home to a sanatorium for the criminally insane.
Unfortunately, as the event’s theme goes, a dangerous former asylum director turned patient broke free of his restraints and burned down the Asylum with everyone in it, leaving no survivors. Some of the spirits of the past have decided not to stay in the past, reminding those brave museum goers what occurred years earlier.
A Night at the Asylum, presented by Geico, will take place from 6-10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 and from 5-10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012. The museum will close at 1 p.m. on Oct. 18 and will be closed for business during regular hours on Oct. 19 and 20.
The event is not recommended for children 12 years old or younger and will use strobe lighting and scary effects. Admission for this special event is $5, and tickets can be purchased the day of the event or in advance online.
