Noah Andre Trudeau will talk about several aspects of the ‘Sherman’s March’ story; he will discuss it as an iconic event in American history and the problems this presents historians. He will also examine the Confederate military response and analyze why it failed so completely. Finally, Trudeau will look at other elements of the campaign, including the “bummers,” wrecking railroads, and when Sherman lost his cool.
